ROLE ON THE TERRITORY

One of the most interesting aspects of our treaty is that it does not only lay out jurisdiction and authorities, but it also envisions the NStQ expanding its management over the expanse of the traditional territory. We believe that consultation and accomodation is one of the lower forms of management in terms of decision-making. We are striving for more than consultation and are actively seeking shared-decision making right down the middle on natural resource and land decisions that are made throughout our traditional territory. By seeking this, we hope that the minister responsible will be accountable directly to the First Nation viewpoint on any decision he makes that will impact the integral aspects of our culture.
